◆2015年11月　中村さん (AGL３期生)の論文が「Renewable Energy Global Innovations」に掲載されました。/ The research paper written by Nakamura (AGL2013) has been posted on "Renewable Energy Global Innovations".

先日、AGL3期生　中村駿介さん（環境理工学創造専攻後期博士課程）の論文 "Development of Tar Removal Technologies for Biomass Gasification Using the By-products" が、学術サイト「Renewable Energy Global Innovations (REGI)」のBioenergy分野に掲載されました。REGIは、再生可能エネルギーに関する研究論文の中から各分野で特にインパクトの大きい論文を取り上げるサイトとして内外から高い評価を得ているサイトで、論文の選抜率は0.1%以下です。中村さんの論文で取り上げているタールでタールを除去するという発想に多くの研究者が興味を持ってくれているようで、この点が評価されたのかもしれません。中村さんは、「木質バイオマスのガス化発電は、従来のバイオマス燃焼発電と比べ小規模かつ高効率の発電を可能にする技術と期待されていますが、バイオマスをガス化する際に発生するタールという粘度の高い物質が各種トラブルを引き起こすことが大きな技術的課題に直面しています。この研究では、そのタールと炭化物(ガス化残渣)をタール除去に利用することで、約85%のタールが除去されることを確認しました。この技術によって、ガス化プラントの初期コスト・運転コストが大幅に下がる可能性があり、今後は実用化に向けて商用スケールのガス化プラントでテストを行っていく予定です。」と語ってくれました。中村さん、おめでとう。
Mr. Shunsuke Nakamura (2013 AGL student) 's research paper "Development of Tar Removal Technologies for Biomass Gasification Using the By-products" has been posted on Bioenergy under an academic website, "Renewable Energy Global Innovations (REGI)". REGI features papers on renewable energy that contain innovative ideas and significant developments in each field. The invited articles are less than 0.1% of the whole published literature. I guess that REGI may evaluate the unique feature of his research; to remove tar by tar itself . Mr. Nakamura said as follows;
"The topic of the paper, biomass gasification, is a new technology considered suitable for the utilization of widely-distributed woody biomass since it allows for small-scale power generation plants. The biggest technical obstacle of biomass gasification is the removal of tar which will cause clogging of pipes and engines. Though a variety of tar removal technologies have been developed until now, most of them are difficult to put into practical use due to high costs. In order to establish a low-cost tar removal system, we evaluated the tar removal performance of the method using by-products, specifically tar and char (gasification residue) for tar removal, since the tar removal by the by-products can be considered the most economical way. The results showed that more than 85% of tar was removed by this method in a pilot-scale facility, and currently, we are conducting commercial-scale experiments for practical applications. The idea "removing tar by tar itself" has been highly appreciated by fellow researchers at both domestic and international conferences." Congratulation, Mr. Nakamura!

◆2015 年9月25日-30日イギリス、ドイツでの研修 -準備と実施-（AGL4期生 井口友莉さん）/Study trip to UK and Germany; 25-30/Sep -Preparation and execution- (Yuri Iguchi, 2014 AGL Student)

本学主催の「日英ワークショップ2015」に選抜され、英国London・Oxfordを訪問しました。本研修は、大学の世界展開力強化事業「グローバル理工系リーダー養成共同ネットワーク（TiROP）」の取り組みの一環として実施されているもので、Oxford大学での材料科学のシンポジウムとImperial College Londonでの研究室見学から成り、機械、金属材料系の研究者や学生を中心に交流を行う目的で9月20日-25日の日程で開催されました。本学から9名の学生が派遣され、Oxford大学のRoger C. Reed教授をはじめ英国、スウェーデンからの参加者との研究発表やグループワークを通じて他材料分野の見識を深めることができました。
また、上記研修終了後に単独ドイツに渡り、製品デザインと機能の両立と技術者とデザイナーの連携について学ぶ目的でプロダクトデザインの代名詞であるBraun社製品のコレクションを誇るドイツのMuseum Angewandte Kunstや、化学メーカーの立場からデザインにアプローチしているBASF社designfabrikを訪問し、先方の担当者らとミーティングを行いました。
Museum Angewandte KunstではKlaus Klemp教授とJulia Schulz氏からシンプルなデザインの裏にある沢山の試行がブランドを形成していることを学び、BASF designfabrikではteam leaderのAndreas Maegerlein氏から高い技術力だけでなくデザイナーも在籍し幅広い相談において円滑に対話を深め、常に挑戦を続けていることを学び刺激を受けました。
元々両者とも直接のルートはなかったのですが、Museumには広報に直接連絡を取り、designfabrikはdesignfabrik@Tokyoへの飛び込みの連絡と訪問の後、同施設executive expertの田中井俊史氏にご相談しMaegerlein氏へのご連絡につなげて頂き訪問が実現しました。ご対応、応援していただいた皆様に感謝の意を表し引き続き精進していきたいと思います。
I was selected for the participant of UK-Japan symposium 2015 hold at London and Oxford. This program is a part of Tokyo Institute of Technology International Research Opportunities Program, and it is aimed at facilitating communication mainly among researchers about mechanical and metal material science. I participated the symposium of material science at Oxford University and visiting laboratories in Imperial College London from 20^th-25^th Sept.2015. I got knowledge regarding material science through lectures from Prof. Roger C .Reed and other researchers, presentation and group work with participant from UK, Sweden and 8 TiTech students.
After the workshop, I visited Germany to study the harmonizing of design and function of the daily product in England and Germany from 25^th -30^th Sept.2015. In Museum Angewandte Kunst, specialized in modern product design and has abundant collection of Braun products, I could lean that a lot of trial is lying behind the simple design theory of Braun and it contributes to create the Braun's brand by talking with Prof. Dr. Klaus Klemp and Ms. Julia Schulz. From the interview with Mr.Andreas Maegerlein, team leader of BASF designfabrik in Germany, I was impressed to learn that they are doing an effort to achieve smooth communication with customers and create innovative products with their sophisticated technology and creative designers in designfabrik.
This excursion was realized because I arranged actively such as sending e-mail to the public of Museum Angewandte Kunst calling BASF Japan on visiting designfabrik@Tokyo and asking Mr.Toshifumi Tanakai, exective expert in designfabrik@Tokyo. I deeply appreciate for the kindness from those I met in this excursion.

◆2015年8月-10月/Aug-Oct/2015 環境ビジネス創造ワークショップGreen Startup Tokyoの開催・運営（AGL1期生 上地成就さん）/Planning and running the new business development workshop "Green Startup Tokjyo" by Joju Uechi, 2011 AGL student.：

AGL１期生の上地成就さん（環境理工学創造専攻D3）が、環境・エネルギー・農業・林業に関わる新しい価値を生み出すためのプログラム"Green Startup Tokyo"（8月下旬～10月上旬・全4回）を企画・運営しています。建設、資源、IT、金融、コンサルティング、広告などの様々な業界から20代を中心とする若手社会人、そして東工大生3名を含む理系文系各分野で学ぶ学生など約20人が参加しています。参加者は最初に持ち寄ったビジネスアイディア（太陽光発電、家庭の省エネ、生ゴミ、農家向けデバイス、耕作放棄地 等）をベースに５チームに分かれ、新規事業モデルの開発に取り組んでいます。
今回の企画にあたっては、AGLでもお世話になっているラーニング・アントレプレナーズ・ラボ株式会社の堤氏と飯野氏に全面的にご協力頂き、プログラムの監修およびデザイン思考やリーン・ローンチパッド等の実践的理論のレクチャーをお願いしています。
Mr. Joju Uechi, 2011 AGL student and Department of Environmental Science and Technology D3, is organizing and running the program, Green Startup Tokyo, for creating new values in environment, energy, agriculture and forestry fields. Twenty participants, including three Tokyo Tech students, joined this workshop from various business sectors and universities. They built five teams based on their business ideas and are working on business developments, such as, new model of PV installation business, new device/service for home energy saving, reduction and effective utilization of food waste, new device for farmers, new service for agricultural land, and so on.
For organizing this program, Mr. Tsutsumi and Mr. Iino of Learning Entrepreneur's Lab Co.,Ltd fully supported and advised form the beginning including planning and giving lectures to the participants.

顧客に対して価値を提供するだけでなく、環境や社会にとっての価値も同時に生み出す事業の開発を目指しているのがこのプログラムの特徴ですが、それだけ難易度が高く、また政策や技術革新に過度に依存するようなアイディアが多く出てくる可能性があると上地さんは考えているようです。講師の方にとってもこのような課題領域やテーマを限定したかたちで行うのは今回が初めてでしたので、企画段階で講師陣とも議論を重ねてプログラムを設計したとのこと。
上地さんは、企画運営に加えて、専門性や過去の参加経験などを活かして、各グループへ情報提供や顧客インタビューなどのサポートも行っており、「今回の企画は、将来自身で開発するグリーンビジネスについて再考し、必要な知識や経験、人的ネットワークを獲得するのによい機会となっている。」としています。
The feature of this program is to aim to create new values not only for customers but also for environment and society. Therefore, the hurdle for materializing business may be more difficult than usual cases and, in some cases, the business models may be heavily depend on policies or technical innovation. This is first time for lectures to hold such a seminar. So it took longer time for preparation ; designing the program structure and schedule.
Mr. Uechi is engaged in supporting every team by providing some information and their interview with his specialty of knowledge and experiences. Mr. Uechi said "This is a good opportunity for me to rethink about my own green business ideas."

◆2015年4月～7月：チームMounty（吉木さん（AGL3期生）、Annaさん（AGL４期生）、Danielさん（AGL３期生）、石田さん（一橋：学期参加）、景山さん（OPEN参加））が優勝/事業創造実践リーン・ローンチパッド / Team Mounty (Yoshiki(AGL2013), Anna(AGL2014), Daniel(AGL2013), Ishida (AGL-Hitotsubashi2014), and Jing(Open) ) got the 1st prize in LLP 2015-1H

リーン・ローンチパッドは，事業アイデアを元に、約3ヶ月間に渡り、潜在顧客との対話を通じた仮説検証を繰り返し，アジャイルなビジネスモデル構築・変更を通し，顧客ニーズのメカニズムを理解し、事業創造を行うワークショップです。本ワークショップを通し、研究活動、企業活動を含むあらゆる組織的活動に要求されるリーダーの機能、すなわち、「新たな分野を開拓し設定する」ための「新たな発想」及び「ニーズのメカニズム」を生み出すためには、誰もが納得できる論理性に加えて、ひらめきに近い「ジャンプ」が重要であることを体感します。ファシリテーターはラーニング・アントレプレナーズラボの堤孝志さん・飯野将人さんです．本年で3回目の開催となりましたが、今年は仮説検証に加え，事業計画・数値目標の設定もおこないました。
今年はいずれのチームも，多くの潜在顧客のインタビューを行い、作成した顧客が最も評価する製品・サービスの価値（MVP：Minimum Viable Product）を作成し、購入を約束する顧客（early adopters）が発見できた３チーム（Mounty、チケットバケット、和！Shock）による大接戦となりました。優勝チームのMountyは，登山家の事故を未然に防ぐことができる生態計測デバイスを開発し販売する事業アイデアでスタートしましたが、潜在顧客へのインタビュー・プロトタイプの開発を繰り返した結果、最終的には介護施設での被介護者の健康状態をリアルタイムでチェックすることに強いニーズが、介護者側に存在することがわかったこと、及び、プロトタイプのハードウエアを開発したことが決め手となったようです。チームMountyのみなさん、おめでとう。
Lean Launchpad workshop is designed to create business with certain value through iterative assumption validations with customer interviews, and agile "build-and-scrap" of business models.
The 3 month workshop was facilitated by Mr. Tsutsumi and Mr. Iino from Learning Entrepreneurs Lab. Inc.
Every year this workshop requirements and achievements are getting better and better. This year, although challenging-ever tasks, setting Numerical Goals and Financial Plans, were assigned, all the teams this year got customers who said "Ok, I purchase your service/product" and signed a contract.
The winner was team "Mounty": the first-ever team who challenged developing hardware.
They developed health-monitoring device for climbers, and for nursing facilities.

◆2015年7月末：学生企画・プログラミング特訓　/ End of Jul 2015: Programming Bootcamp facilitated by AGL student

2015年7月28日～8月3日の7日間，特別企画「1週間10000行プログラミング特訓」を行いました．
自ら率先してアイデアを形にする能力は，研究を含めた様々な活動でリーダーシップを発揮するために必要です．プログラミングは素早くアイデアを形にするために
重要なツールであり，今後は必要不可欠なリテラシーになると考えられます．
そこで普段プログラミングを専門としない学生が1週間朝9時～夜9時まで徹底的にプログラミングに取り組みました．
さらに，一流のエンジニアである藤川真一氏の会社BASE.Incを訪問し，具体的な作業アドバイスに加え，ソフトウェア開発全体を俯瞰視する知見も得ました．

"7days Programming Bootcamp: 10000 lines to code" was conducted from 28 Jul. to 3 Aug, 2015.
To exert leadership in any kinds of activities including research, ability to make one's ideas visible and tangible is necessary. To perform it coding is obviously a key tool, and a fundamental literacy in near future.
Thus, in these bootcamp graduate students who don't major software engineering had committed into coding from 9AM to 9PM, 7days in a row, intensively.
Moreover, students visited Mr. Fujikawa (CTO of BASE.Inc.) and gained encouraging advices for coding, and enlightening viewpoints for software engineering.

◆2015年6月：チームFOODCHECKER（木村さん（AGL2期生）、八木さん（AGL1期生）、川﨑さん（AGL2期生）、渡邊真由さん（AGL3期生、一橋大学）; 2014年度LLP優勝）のアプリが、アップルストアから入手可能となりました。/ New iOS application, foodcheckerβ, developed by a team of FoodChecker (Mr. Kimura(2012 AGL student), Ms. Yagi(2011 AGL student), Mr. Kawasaki(2012 AGL student) and Ms. Watanabe(2013 AGL student from Hitotsubashi) has been launched in June2015

昨年2014年度Lean Launchpad(LLP)の優勝チームであるFOODCHECKERは、道場menuの終了後も、early adaptorsの開拓、アプリのプロトタイプからの開発を継続し、本年6月に、iOS向け無料アプリとして"foodchecker β"をアップルストアからダウンロードをできるようにしました。このアプリは、日本に来る外国人旅行者を主なユーザーとし、コンビニ等で販売しているお菓子等のバーコードをスキャンするだけで、原材料情報を英語で取得することができ、日本語表記しかない食品の原材料に不自由している外国人旅行者や外国人居住者にとり、簡単に情報を得ることができるようになります。アプリの詳細は下記URL

The team "Food Checker", a winner of 2014 Lean Lauchpad(LLP) , launched their first iOS application into the market as "foodchaeckerβ" from Apple Store in June/2015. This application can help foreign visitors to Japan for their understanding of ingredients written by Japanese sweet stuffs and snacks including candies, chocolate and chips by only scanning the barcode, on their bags.

方針とコンセプト/Direction and concept：

◆ 「リーダーシップ」を身につけるのが目的ではなく、「リーダーシップ」を発揮して何を行うかが重要と考えます。/ Attaining "leadership" is not the purpose of this Dojo. Rather, it is the process of executing "something" through the exercise of "leadership" that is more important - the act of leading rather than the position of leadership.

◆ しっかりした知識・論理性は勿論ですが、積み重ねの延長線上ではない不連続なステップアップ、即ち、過去や常識に捕われない新たな創造性（発想）とその価 値を認めるユーザー（市場・顧客）の要望の認識という「ジャンプ」を重視します。/ While knowledge and logical thinking are fundamental, of more importance to Global Leaders is the ability for lateral "jumping", non-linear execution, and creativity not linked to previous experience, perceived common sense and understanding, but instead to craft structure that better meet future needs of users (markets and customers).
