Dr. Sawako SIGETO
After finishing my first degree and master degree in Agricultural Economics at Kyoto University, Japan, from 2001, I studied at School of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development at Newcastle University, UK, for my PhD on economic analysis of the farmland market and farmland abandonment in Japan. I was awarded my PhD in 2006.
I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan, from April 2006 to March 2008. I carried out the analysis of rural social enterprises both in the UK and Japan for one year. From April 2007, I worked on development of web-based platform concerned with waste management, energy recovery from wastes and utilization of local unutilized resources (PEGASUS: Public Energy/Environment Giga Analyzer for sustainable development) for one year. I have worked for Research Institute of Science and Engineering for Society (RISTEX), Japan Science and Engineering Agency (JST), as an associate fellow, since 2008. My main responsibility was a RISTEX's environment-energy R&D Program management. I am currently working for a global leadership program of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
