(1) Haruko Hirose (program staff) (11/1, 12/13, 1/17)
Ms. Hirose gave a lecture based on her experience at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris and as ambassador plenipotentiary to Morocco on topics including Japan’s role in the world, the business environment of developing countries (Morocco), challenges faced during the expansion of Japanese enterprise, expectations regarding future participation of young people in international organizations, and steps be taken in order to bring it about, and we conducted two rounds of discussion. In the third round, we held a debate on a theme chosen independently by the students (“Are nuclear exports right or wrong?”), based on the students’ own research.



(2) Kanzo Kobayashi (formerly with Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation and Itochu, now at GLOCOM at the International University of Japan) (11/8)
Mr. Kobayashi gave a lecture entitled “Expectations of global leaders who will live through the 21st century” on the knowledge, understanding, and know-how he obtained through his experience working in the field at a trading company overseas, after which a discussion was held, and we learned about the conduct of international business.




(3) Arnar Jensson (graduate of this university, manages a business venture) (11/22)
Mr. Jensson gave a lecture describing his personal motivation and methods in starting up, raising funds for, and managing a business venture, and also what is needed for success, after which a discussion was held regarding topics including the importance of teamwork.




(4) Keiichi Maeda (graduate of this university, formerly with IBM and Nomura Securities, now provides business venture assistance) (11/29)
Mr. Maeda gave a lecture describing leadership and its necessary components, based on his activities and accomplishments providing business venture and job search assistance grounded in community formation, as well as social app development and the like, after which we held a discussion.




(5) Noboru Harada (NTT Research Labs) (1/10)
Mr. Harada gave a lecture based on his international standardization activities on the significance, importance, and difficulty of international standardization, a portrait of the leader in international standardization, skills to contend with the world, and what is important, after which we held a discussion.

(6) Prof. Ray Liu (Professor at the University of Maryland (United States), program staff) (3/23)
On the occasion of his visit to Japan for an international conference, Professor Liu gave a lecture and conducted a discussion on the topic of global leadership. Contents: What is leadership? Who can be a leader? Elements to be a technical leader, styles, characteristics of a team, ten characteristics of well-functional teams, global leadership challenges.
Read designated chapters in “Management Skills for Everyday Life” by Paula J. Caproni, learned about management fundamentals, and summarized our thoughts and impressions.
Developed an understanding of the process and requirements for obtaining the PhD in each student’s field of specialization and brought everyone’s thoughts into alignment for the purpose of carrying out study and research systematically while adapting to the pace of dojo education at the Academy for Global Leadership.
